To develop and promote confident, competitive, committed netball teams in a way that nurtures, encourages and challenges the individual, and enhances both personal fitness and team effectiveness.

Our Objectives are:

• To operate safely and abide by our club code of conduct

• To promote continuous improvement in out ability, league position and enjoyment of the game of netball

• To provide a varied and challenging programme of coaching and fitness training

• To cater for a variety of playing abilities and commitment levels through our squad system

• To cater for the development of all players, particularly new and junior players

• To nurture a strong sense of identity

• To maintain an active and organised club administrative team

• To promote a friendly, sociable and positive club environment

Our History..

​

1960’s Netball was a section of Epsom and Ewell Harriers.

• Known as Epsom and Ewell. Matches were played at King George’s Fields Ewell.

• There were 20+ members including Joyce Wait and Joan Dowle (Chipperfield)

• A and B teams played in the Surrey, and Met leagues. The C team played in the Kingston League.

• Club annual subs were £2. There was a fine of 3d (old pence) a minute if late for a match. 

• Kit - maroon skirts, yellow blouse and maroon v neck sweater of wool to be worn over blouses in cold weather.

 

1970 In the early 70’s the netball section separated from the harriers and became Epsom and Ewell Netball Club.

1980 2 teams in the Surrey and Kingston league.

​

1984 Increase in numbers and organised friendly matches for a C team but no league matches.

​

1970’s and 80’s training was held at various venues: Leatherhead Sports Centre, Hook Youth Club, RAF Chessington, and Linton’s Youth Centre.

1986 From September ‘86 Saturday were held matches at Oxshott Village Sports Club

1986 Joyce Wait was the main negotiator in arranging the move to OVSC. Saturday matches had previously been held at various venues in Ewell and Epsom, until September 1986 when a netball court was marked out on tennis courts 8 and 9 at OVSC. The tennis section require a second sport to use the tennis area to entitle them to the Sports Council grant to resurface their courts. This is how Epsom and Ewell NC came to be part of OVSC. As there were no flood lights Monday night training continued at Linton’s Lane Youth Centre, Epsom

1989 Joyce Wait was asked to be honorary Netball Club president.

​

1989/90 season. The A team in Surrey premier B and top in Kingston div 2. The B team 2nd in Surrey div 5 and 3rd in div 4 in Kingston League.

1990 The netball section became more integrated with OVSC and the club changed their name to Epsom and Oxshott.

​

1990 The A team were in Surrey Premier B and moved in to Division 1 in the Kingston league.

​

1991 Kit change to black and jade.

​

1992 Brenda Wardle started the first junior training sessions at Oxshott. There were 10 to 20 juniors mainly aged 12/13 years.

​

1994/5 season. A team in Surrey premier B and Kingston division 1. B team in Surrey premier D and div 2 in Kingston league. With an increase in numbers a C team was entered in the Kingston league in div 8, led by Pauline Davison.

1995 Discussions to introduce a club constitution.

​

1996 With a further increase in number the club entered 4th team as a C team in the Surrey league.

​

1997 June 97 at a great loss to her family and to the club Joyce Wait died following a long battle with breast cancer. Joyce had been the SCNA rep for youth netball as well as working tirelessly in the development of Oxshott NC and to improve the facilities for netball at Oxshott.

​

1999/20 season. Surrey league - A’s in premier B B’s in premier D. C’s in div 5. There were 3 teams in the Kingston league.

2002 Renamed Oxshott Netball Club....

​

And since has gone from strength to strength winning various competitions at all levels & with dedicated members of the club, from junior & senior coaches, committee members, players and supporters, Oxshott Netbal Club will continue to achieve and strive to develop and promote confident, competitive, committed netball teams.
